Daniel continues to shine in math...
As 4th grade draws to a close, we've just received Daniel's results from a math placement test. This year he was in the most advanced math class at Superior Elementary School, as a 4th grader. The 4th grade class is supposedly a very smart class with nearly 25% of the kids being identified as TAG (Talented and Gifted) students. They shuffle the four 4th classes into math classes at different levels yet Daniel still had to be bumped up to the highest 5th grade math class this year - the only student in the 4th grade doing this.
This is great, but it will put an extra burden on us next year because he will have to go to Eldorado Middle School for math each day. Daniel just tested into a 7th/8th grade math class and will be the only student in Superior Elementary going to Eldorado for math next year. Daniel is a sponge when it comes to math. Given the right instructors, he can go far. He still loves math and certainly helps out his school in the annual CSAP (Colorado Scholastic Aptitude Performance?) test.
Derek is doing well also. He's a very good reader and is reading at the 3rd grade level here at the end of first grade. He loves reading as well. They both have night lights in their beds now and will do some reading on their own before going to sleep each night. What cutie pies.
